Read the entire room before using a tool
Stop at the room boundary and identify the reward chamber, closed path, material source, receiver, button, reset control, and any icon built into the wall. Follow environmental arrows to reach these areas, but do not treat the arrow as the solution. It only brings you to the mechanism.
Trace what can move when the button is pressed. Water may fall, Lava may enter an ice channel, or frozen material may create a temporary route. Decide where the material must finish and where the player must stand before triggering the room.
- Locate the Artifact or reward chamber.
- Find the control and any reset symbol.
- Identify sources, portals, drains, and target tiles.
- Keep a clear route back to the entrance.
Match wall icons to the required tool
A flame or rocket symbol is a direct tool hint in the observed rooms. Use the corresponding interaction at the marked part of the mechanism rather than firing at every wall. Fire can melt or burn a blocker, while an explosive tool can open a barrier identified by the room.
If the icon names a tool you have not researched, leave the room intact and return after the relevant tier. A progression gate is not a failed solution. Spending all available energy on a resistant wall usually leaves you unable to finish the intended interaction or travel home.
Solve Ice, Water, Fire, and Lava state changes
Read the existing materials as parts of one sequence. In an observed early room, Ice is used to freeze Water and create access to the Artifact. Other rooms use heat to remove a frozen obstruction or allow Lava to reach Ice. Apply only enough heat or movement to produce the required state change.
Watch one complete reaction before adding more material. If the path closes, identify whether the wrong material moved, the change happened too early, or the player approached from the wrong side. Reset the room when a reset control is available instead of piling another attempt onto a mixed state.
Route button-controlled fluids with Foundation
In observed puzzle rooms, small highlighted squares near a button indicate buildable Foundation positions. Before pressing the button, build a minimal channel that carries the released Water or Lava toward the required receiver while keeping it away from portals or drains that remove it.
Test one target at a time when the room allows it. A receiver changing state confirms that part of the route. Remove or reposition only the Foundation pieces needed for the next target, then press the control again. This is easier to diagnose than rebuilding the entire channel after every attempt.
- Trace gravity from the source.
- Block the first wrong fall or portal.
- Provide a continuous path to the target.
- Press the button and watch the full material route.
Handle timing rooms and reset failed attempts
Some observed mechanisms require the player to trigger a heat sequence and move through the opened route before it changes again. Stand on the correct side of the first barrier, confirm the destination is clear, and then start the sequence.
If the route closes with the player on the wrong side, use the room's reset control when present. Do not destroy boundaries that appear to be part of the puzzle. The pause-menu unstuck command documented by the official Beginner's Guide is the recovery option when the character is genuinely trapped.
Confirm completion and record a reusable solution
A successful mechanism opens access to the Artifact or reward and lets the player make the available Augment choice. Confirm that the reward registered before dismantling temporary Foundation or leaving the room.
Record the visible clue and solution sequence rather than a fixed coordinate or community-assigned puzzle number. Worlds are procedural, and current Early Access references do not establish stable names or numbering for every room. After an update, verify that the icon, material order, and receiver behavior still match before presenting the route as current.
- Capture the room clue.
- Record the order of tools and material changes.
- Note any reset step.
- Keep the reward choice on the Artifacts guide rather than mixing it into the room solution.
Common questions
Why can I not enter a puzzle room?
The room may require the intended environmental interaction or a tool from a later research tier.
What do small squares near a button mean?
In observed rooms, they indicate places where Foundation can be built to route Water or Lava.
What if I get trapped?
Use the unstuck option from the pause menu, as documented in the official Beginner's Guide.
